For exchanging information online, and getting all kinds of information, I'm more inclined to use forums. Every forum has a fixed theme. The friends who assemble there all have a shared interest in these themes. Everybody gets along pretty well, and they can share a lot of materials and experience. It's not like a blog, where it puts a ton of weight on a single person's opinions and daily life.
But the topics on blogs are all determined by the blogger. Visitors can only only reply with their own opinions about these topics. They don't have the power to publish. But on forums, each person can publish freely or reply to different topics, and get the information he needs. So I still think forums are more useful.
