In this 4-part video mini-series, we will discuss language useful for diplomats or anyone interested in formal speech or public speaking. In part one, we will hear the emcee formally introduce the honourable guest up on stage as well as hear the first part of this guest's diplomatic rhetoric. Photo by David Morris

We're very honored to have a distinguished school alumnus at the forum this time, the former spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Hui Hong. Mr Hong is currently Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Information Office. He dealt with what can only be described as a diverse range of international affairs during his tenure as spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
nàme zuòwéi wàijiāoxuéyuàn de xīnshēng ，jīntiān yǔ “ǒuxiàng ”jìn jùlí jiēchù de jīhuì shí shǔ nándé 。zài Hóng Huī xiānsheng yǎnjiǎng jiéshù hòu ，wǒmen yě jiāng kāifàng tíwèn huánjié ，qǐng gèwèi tóngxué zhuāzhù jīhuì ，yǒngyuè cānyù tíwèn 。
As new students of China Foreign Affairs University, this is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with an idol. So when Mr Hong finishes his speech, we'll allow a round of questions from the floor. I hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity and jump at the chance to ask questions.
hǎo ，nàme jiē xiàlái ，wǒmen jiù bǎ shíjiān jiāo gěi Hóng Huī xiānsheng ，qǐng tā lái wèi dàjiā jiǎndān tán yi tán ，《wàijiāo cílìng 》。
OK, now let's hand over to Mr Hong to introduce for everyone diplomatic rhetoric.
Each lesson is centered around a natural dialogue with key vocabulary directly prepared and translated for your use. You can also listen to each sentence as an individual recording to improve your listening and comprehension skills.
