According to a WHO report, confirmed cases of COVID-19 has exceeded 1.27 million, and caused around 70 thousand deaths. Zhong Nan Shan, a fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering and a renowned respiratory expert said, "I hope every country is putting every effort into preventing and controlling the pandemic, and I believe that we will defeat it as last."

Several European countries including the UK, France, and Belgium have announced that colleges and universities are postponing the new semester to September. This means that universities are implementing online teaching for this whole semester. For many universities, online courses are not something new. But when facing the replacement of physical classrooms with online courses on such a large scale, the educational institutions, teachers, and students in these countries are still exploring and adjusting accordingly.

I hope the leaders from each of the countries will approach it with sincerity and take action, and not let our habitat get even worse.

Today, with all these talented and distinguished people gathered, both young and old, I’m hoping we can put our heads together for greater efficiency, and for everyone to speak their minds, in order to make suggestions for the promotion of the One Belt One Road initiative, so that this momentous project can bring wealth to every citizen.

Over two thousand years ago, our forefathers endeavoured through hardships, crossing the plains and the desert, opening up the Silk Road linking Asia, Europe and Africa; Our forefathers raised their sails and navigated far and wide, crossing the stormy seas, braving the Maritime Silk Road linking the West and the East. The ancient Silk Road opened up new windows for friendly interaction between all countries, writing a new chapter in the book of the progress of human development.

For peace, we have to securely establish an awareness of a community of destiny among humanity. Prejudice and discrimination, hostility and war, they only bring disaster and pain. Mutual respect, treating one another as equals, peaceful development, prospering together, this is the true path for humanity. Each country in the world should uphold the objectives and principles enshrined in the United Nations charter as the core tenets of international order and the international system, to proactively construct new international relations with win-win cooperation at its core, to continue to carry forward the sublime undertaking that is world peace and development.

For peace, China will persist in walking the road of peaceful development. The Chinese people have always been keen on peace. Whichever stage of development China reaches, it will never become hegemonic, it will never engage in expansionism, it will never visit the horrible treatment that they once suffered themselves on any other people. The Chinese people will continue to maintain friendly dealings with each country around the world, will continue to safeguard the results of the victory in the Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and work hard to a new and bigger contribution for humanity.
