I take pride in giving up my seat on the 地铁 or 公共汽车 to those who need it, it is a sign of respect to the elderly or disabled and I do the same in the states. I always love when Chinese parents scold their children for not being a 客气 as the 老外.

不过，我在上海的时候，跟青年招待所的服务员一起打了大副翁，好玩极乐！在中国大陆，那个游戏是不是比较受欢迎？

October 9, 2007 at 9:56 AMuser2707, the 下次 that you are hearing in the dialogue might have a softened ci4 becuse of the 吧 (ba5) that follows after. It also seems to me to be a little soft. But 次（ci4) should be pronouced with the fourth tone. It doesn't help that the girl in the dialogue is a little soft spoken. I think, as I channel Ken, with 下次 being such a high frequency phrase people while catch the meaning even if you have a soft 次。 cheers, 高健
