Well, I guess I'd rather believe in magic than not believe in it. Some things are really mysterious. It's like they're destined to happen. The fortune teller that my mom often visits makes really accurate predictions. He's very learned, and an expert on the I Ching. There's no way he's the kind of fraud who just pulls stuff out of nowhere. One time, the fortune teller told my mom that in the future, there would be some scars on my face. Sure enough, when I was in middle school and my classmate and I were riding bikes downhill, I had an accident and there really is some scarring on my lip. How's that for accuracy?

有时候会一起。我总觉得算命这种东西不可全信，也不可不信。事情的发生总是有因有果。那些算命师能帮你找出事情的起因并想办法解决，也未必不是件好事啊。

yǒushíhou huì yīqǐ 。wǒ zǒng juéde suànmìng zhèzhǒng dōngxi bùkě quán xìn ，yě bùkě bù xìn 。shìqing de fāshēng zǒngshì yǒu yīn yǒu guǒ 。nàxiē suànmìngshī néng bāng nǐ zhǎochū shìqing de qǐyīn bìng xiǎng bànfǎ jiějué ，yě wèibì bù shì jiàn hǎoshì a 。

Sometimes we do those things together. I've always said, you can't completely trust predictions of your future, and you can't totally mistrust them either. There's always a cause and effect when something happens. These fortune tellers can help you find the reason why something happens, and come up with a solution. That's not necessarily a bad thing, you know.

Hey, I'm really not trying to persuade you to believe in these kinds of magical predictions. On the other hand, I really admire your courage in refusing to defer to fate. How can I put this....There are really some things we can't use science to understand, so I'd rather believe there is some kind of unseen power behind all the mysteries. As long as you're not talking about blind worship and totally relying on fortune telling, I'm OK with it.

对，刚，强，兵，飞等字都比较阳刚，通常用做男生名。丽，婷，萍，菲等字则比较阴柔，自然在女生名中比较流行。不过倒是有女生起比较男性化的名字，倒显得很帅气和有个性。比如说“若男”，就能体现女子坚强的一面。不过现代人都不是特别讲究了，只要好听和有涵义就好。当然也不排除有的家庭为了图吉利，会特意请算命师帮忙起个涵义特别好的名字。

duì ，gāng ，qiáng ，bīng ，fēi děng zì dōu bǐjiào yánggāng ，tōngcháng yòng zuò nánshēng míng 。lí ，tíng ，píng ，fēi děng zì zé bǐjiào yīnróu ，zìrán zài nǚshēng míng zhōng bǐjiào liúxíng 。bùguò dàoshì yǒu nǚshēng qǐ bǐjiào nánxìnghuà de míngzi ，dǎo xiǎnde hěn shuàiqì hé yǒu gèxìng 。bǐrú shuō “ruònán ”，jiù néng tǐxiàn nǚzǐ firm de yīmiàn 。bùguò xiàndàirén dōu bù shì tèbié jiǎngjiu le ，zhǐyào hǎotīng hé yǒu hányì jiù hǎo 。dāngrán yě bù páichú yǒude jiātíng wèile tú jílì ，huì tèyì qǐng suànmìngshī bāngmáng qǐ ge hányì tèbié hǎo de míngzi 。

Right. Names like ''Steel," ''Strong," ''Soldier," ''Flying," and so on are more masculine, and they're often used in boys' names. Names like ''Pretty," ''Graceful," ''Grass," and ''Fragrant" are more feminine, and they're naturally popular as girls' names. But some girls do have rather masculine names, so that they seem elegant and distinctive. For example, ''like a man" can express a lady's strong side. But modern people don't take it all that seriously anymore. As long as it sounds good and has some meaning, it's fine. Of course, we can't rule out that in some families hire a fortune teller to help them choose an extremely auspicious name, for the sake of getting good fortune.

tā jīntiān ná le yī zhāng zhǐ gěi wǒ ，dōu shì zhǎo rén suànmìng qǐ de míngzi 。nǐzìjǐ kàn ，shénme Lǐ Jīnpéng ，Lǐ Jīntāo ，sú bù sú ā ？xiànzài nǎyǒu xiǎohái jiào zhèzhǒng míngzi ？shuō chūqù hái bù bèi rén xiào sǐ 。

She gave me a piece of paper today. It had a bunch of names that she got from fortune-tellers. Look for yourself-- there's stuff like ''Li Jinpeng," ''Li Jintao"-- are those common or what? What kind of kids have names like that these days? You couldn't say them without people laughing.

《易经》最初有八卦，这个“卦”的意思就是挂起来的“挂”，也就是说你应该把它挂起来，然后经常看，就能参透其中的道理。这个和占卜是不一样的。你知道的占卜算命等说法，其实是后人将《易经》理论延伸后的产物。

Yìjīng 》zuìchū yǒu bāguà ，zhè ge “guà ”de yìsi jiùshì guà qǐlái de “guà ”，yějiùshìshuō nǐ yīnggāi bǎ tā guà qǐlái ，ránhòu jīngcháng kàn ，jiù néng cāntòu qízhōng de dàolǐ 。zhè ge hé zhānbǔ shì bù yīyàng de 。nǐ zhīdào de zhānbǔ suànmìng děng shuōfǎ ，qíshí shì hòurén jiāng Yìjīng 》lǐlùn yánshēn hòu de chǎnwù 。

Initially, the I Ching had the 8 trigrams. The meaning of this 'trigram' comes from the word, 'gua', or to hang up; meaning that you should first hang it up, examine it often, and then you will be able to fully understand the rationality within it. This is different than the practice of divination. The practice of divination and fortune telling that you know, are actually the products of later generations expanding on the theories of the I Ching.
