May 23, 2007 at 1:55 AMfile is 文件, folder is 文夹. MP3 is MP三. Makes sense, eh?

May 17, 2007 at 4:19 AMTry putting the entire filename in quotation marks, like "filename.mp3". That forces windows to save it as an mp3 file.

May 13, 2007 at 3:21 PM@jie2fu1 - there is (unadvertised) a traditional version of the HTML file online in addition to the PDF. This follows the same naming convention as the PDF ("[filename]trad.html" rather than "[filename].html". So if you know the name of simplified file you can grab the traditional one. Well... I guess it's advertised now. Worth mentioning that the files only exist for newer lessons, as we haven't gone back and updated the archive yet.

May 13, 2007 at 2:59 PMLostinAsia, I'm in the middle of revamping the backend lesson-preparation system. This will streamline the way the HTML files are produced, and correct the problems you've mentioned: capitalizing the pinyin, adding speakers, converting Chinese punctuation to ASCII punctuation in romanized lines. The reason those changes haven't gone live already is that it makes more sense to correct them systematically in the new system than implement a short-term fix that will only affect simplified. I'm expecting that we'll need to make changes to the way files are made available for download, especially as the number of additional files for download grows. More on this within the month, although Hank's already dropped a hint on the blog.

April 30, 2007 at 3:27 AMLantian - the idea is balancing functionality with usability, and keeping people from being inundated with links. Perhaps in the future we can add a "download center" or sorts for lessons with all related files. As far as spiffy goes, how about 新奇?

April 29, 2007 at 10:16 AMRich, The main public feed has the last ten days worth of lessons (http://chinesepod.com/learnchinese/feed/). Have you set up your personal feed to catch the lessons you're interested in otherwise, or am I missing the point? There's some information about our beta traditional plugin at the link below. It automatically redirects the PDF link to the traditional version of the PDF. The file name is the same as the simplified version, except for having the four letters "trad" tacked on to the end (ie. chinesepod_LXXXXtrad.pdf), so you can always download it manually, even without installing the plugin: http://blogs.chinesepod.com/2007/04/25/firefox-plugin-for-traditional-chinese/ --dave

April 29, 2007 at 1:41 AM@ningkun, I don't think flash has ever supported mouseovers like HTML.
