That is a really creepy photo! I saw the American version of 'the ring' and was pretty freaked out, but I have heard that the Japanese version is even scarier :S

Yes 硬臥 refers to a hard sleeper on a train. As Seibre says its the class below a soft sleeper (软卧 ruǎn​wò​) :)
