hey xiaophil,

haha, i was reading a bit of 老子 last night and came across that profundity. it got me thinking straight away. here is how the cartoon explaines 一知半解:

能知道自己所不知道,这是最高明的。

不知道却自以为知道,这就是缺点。

圣人没有这个缺点,因为圣人厌恶这个缺点,所以才没有这个缺点。

拿这种脉络的道理来讲,要是我所都不知道,我就算是一个圣人喽!

i have a question.

等一会儿,i've also heard used in a negative context as changye and tal have both alluded to in regard a firing afoot. would 等一会儿 used in certain contexts also imply a meaning similar to 走着瞧? 比如:等一会儿,就知道/就完蛋/就发现

hey xiaophil,

don't know. appears to be the same, perhaps adding 是shi4 adds emphasis?  or perhaps the former is 'only' and the latter  is 'just'.

your question raises another question if 一知半解yi4zhi1ban4jie3 refers to someone claiming to know but not fully understanding, would the opposite be 一解半知yi4jie3ban4zhi1, understanding but not knowing?

beach bum,

you're joking, right?

to my understanding, not much, 个 is a measure word. it can be used to indicate a period in or point of time.

if we were both at, say, a uni listening to a boring lecture. you might say to me 他说得无聊,我真没感兴趣,我们逃课去喝咖啡好吗? and i would more than likely reply 说得好,其实我都不敢说,咱们去吧!

得 in this context indicates to get/aquire。

perhaps another poddy may be more helpful explaining specific grammar points of 得

go-manly,

not sure, just going on intuition. the 个 in   不停  is a measure word for mentioned or previous refered to noun or verb or adjective. i think it is used to add negative and specific emphasis. the mentioned noun in the dialogue is the canadian company's product.

我说得好吗?

哼! 你说好个屁!

夸得不停 may also imply the exaggeration is currently continuing, and that the exaggeration encompasses a broader scope.

力伟,

轮到你了 it's your turn. 不过  ‘该你了’ 比较顺口。
