Yes, you're right. The phrase "高铁" is now widely used in mainland.

"Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed link" in Chinese is "沪杭高铁"(hu4hang2 gao1tie3). We wouldnt ask for a 动车 ticket for 高铁. 高铁票 is much expensive than 动车票.

"书" also means "document" or "letter", so 秘书 is the one who handles secret or important documents. :)
