April 21, 2012 at 1:47 PMMy daughter used to take swim class at the National Training Center which also hosts Trialthon events. We know when there is one going on because roads will be blocked off and you see policemen directing traffics and people lining up the street to show support. It's a wonderful community activity that promotes health and fitness.

This organization is a family oriented health club that offers physical fitness programs which include swimming, weight training, team sports, zumba, Tai Chi etc. Aside from physical training, they organize educational events in Healthy Living (which teach eating right and weight control) and social events like Valentine's Day Party, St. Patrick Day, Going Back to School party etc. The personal trainers are young, professional and are good role models for the children.
Since obesity is a problem in the US and my daughter loves pasta and sweet, I have been getting her into a physically active lifestyle. Yesterday we were in the Zumba class and we learned the basic dance steps of Salsa and Cha Cha. Most of time the instructors are Hispanics and boy, can they dance! Next Saturday I am bringing her to a "Healty Kids" event which features fun physical activities and introduces healthy food. Maybe she will get a hang of eating vegetables prepared in a certain way!
