September 3, 2013 at 11:28 PMWestern medical care in Shanghai is wonderful. Very little waiting time, professional doctors and nurses. The dentist cleans your teeth and does the exam. Not that expensive.
The local hospitals do have strange customs. Pay for a ticket to wait in line. Pay for procedures in advance. Pay the nurses directly for care. No privacy.
Visiting a friend in the hospital to find him sitting in a crowded hallway in no more than a student desk, and holding his own IV bag, now that's tough.

August 25, 2013 at 11:32 PMThe drivers do want to keep their jobs, but yes, for every returned phone or wallet story, there is the story about the two full suitcases lost without a trace.
At least if you have the 车号 and 证号 you have a chance. Call fast.

August 23, 2013 at 4:43 AMGood lesson content. Saving the 发票 really does work for fare disputes and lost items, but not always. Where else would I learn 计价器。

August 15, 2013 at 11:35 PMSo many cards. As for my 大润发 card, everyone else has one, and it is now required to use the courtesy shuttle to the subway. The Metro card is required for a purchase, but when I forget mine I use my driver's or ask the person in front of me to scan theirs. City Shop card accumulates points that I will never use. 迪卡侬, well this actually provides a discount. It is also a hassle to apply for some of these cards, some require your passport, residence permit, and even your company's chop. 太麻烦了。

August 7, 2013 at 11:21 PMIn Shanghai, the Japanese girls generally wear a different style of clothing. Very evident when you see a group of them walking down the street.
The popularity of J-pop and K-pop can blur this a bit.
In my infrequent visits to the local clubs and discos, it seemed like all the boys fit the description of 韩国人。Just how much does one of those hairdos cost?

July 18, 2013 at 4:50 AMBiggest complaint for my club in Shanghai is all the spoiled expat kids. No supervision and no manners. I have also had to personally call the club manager to get them to repair popular peices of equipment. Service is excellent, but a general lack of maintenance.

July 11, 2013 at 12:35 AM巴厘岛 was very interesting from a cultural and architectural standpoint. I was put off by the tour guide scams and agrressiveness, even at the temples. My resort was lovely, and most people seemed very friendly. Overall, I would say it did not live up to my expectations.

July 5, 2013 at 5:23 AMOne night back in 2009 I was scrambling to get home before service shut down for the night. I took the wrong exit from the subway, so I was a little disoriented, but luckily there was a bus stop for #74 and #141 right in front of me. I wanted to take #74. A 141 bus pulled up, and immediately after it, another bus pulled in. I ended up taking a #141 bus to the terminal station in the wrong direction just as service shut down for the night.

Chinese friend in Shanghai just had a baby, and the hospital charged the husband an extra 2000+ RMB to be present during delivery.

September 17, 2013 at 4:45 AM上个星期我很担心我的月饼数额不够,只收到了一个哈根达斯卡。现在有很多。Yes, your company must buy them for the workers, and they had better be tasty, or you will be hearing about it until next year.
