Actually, as much as I love CPod, there is some atrocious mandarin spoken on these lessons. When you watch hosts on television shows in china, or newscasters, do any of them speak anything other than proper, standard putonghua? If you listen to western movies dubbed into mandarin, that is very standard mandarin, and I think you will find it is very different than cpod voice actors. I even played some of my cpod lessons for my Chinese teacher who said these people speak very bad mandarin. You can argue that tone rules, or even intonation rules are frequently broken in the real world. And I would argue that there are a lot of people who speak ebonics in the hood in america, but that doesn't mean it is proper English and that it should be encouraged or emulated. And I certainly wouldn't suggest Chinese students of english to listen to a couple of ghetto speakers to study english. That is an extremexample, but the point is there is standard mandarin and there is everything else. Standard mandarin as you probably know is not a regional language but an official language. But it is closest to Mandarin as it is spoken in the North East, mostly Heilongjiang. Cpod has great lessons and very interesting and I learn a lot of great expressions so I love the service, and it would be great if we could get he announcers to speak with more of a standard mandarin accent, more similar to a northeast sound.

It is probably just bad Mandarin. I haven't listened to this lesson yet, but there are a lot of pronunciation errors by the voice actors. How come after all this time and all the great work C-Pod has done, we can't get the voice actors to speak proper standard mandarin?

And can we please get lesson notes? ala Japanesepod101.com...it breaks down all the little points. Cpod is clearly the best with lesson innovation and being interesting, so why can't it jsut fix up these two errors and really be a perfect service?

Can you please explain the le's in the dialogue? 

那他可是跟对主人了，跟了我只能灰头土脸。

Is the meaning changed if we change the positions of the le's to:

跟对了主人，跟我了只能灰头土脸。

Please explain as I don't quite grasp this.  Also, have you guys ever thought of having a pdf that explains the grammar patterns etc such as other language podcast sites?  It really would be very helpful and the only thing that is missing from your great service.  Thank you

I don't see what the problem is with kids hearing it, it is how they were made. Also you could just ask them to please close the window...maybe asking nicely would get you further.

So seriously, there are these bathhouses all over everywhere I have been in China and they all have prosties on the payroll.  Whether or not you can go all the way depends on the venue, but you can pretty much get something done.  We were at one in shenzhen that was really nice last weekend and I just assumed it was legit, but I asked some people and it turns out that you can get anything taken care of so to speak.  So my question is, how is this perceived by people in general?  A lot of chinese people like to tell me how chinese girls are so traditional and have to wait til they are married blah blah and not kaifang like western girls, but then everywhere in china on practically every corner there is prositution.  In the US there are not western girls selling themselves rampantly like there are in china.  Am I the only one who thinks it is weird that you have these bathhouses or more like entertainment complexes where there are families on one floor and a bunch of dudes getting da fei ji'd by xiaojies on the floor above...weird weird weird and more kaifang than the US!
