June 16, 2011 at 7:27 AMThe instructions (and the terminology) were all in Chinese, as far as I could understand them. In French I would have been lost. I think the teacher knows the French terminology (for example "plié"), but he used Chinese.

June 13, 2011 at 4:10 PMNo, kimiik, luckily I wasn't! The people in the ballet class were somewhere between 25 and 60 of age, some of them more or less beginners with ballet (like me). One of the teacher's main concern was that no one gets injured.

June 12, 2011 at 1:04 PMYes, zhenlijiang, the instructions were in Chinese (something like 一位!二位手!三位!左边!右边!往外!往里!前腿!后腿!绷脚!抬头!等) and I identified one word that sounded like "plié". But that's all that I remember. I am sure I didn't always understand the instructions. Sometimes I just watched what the others in the class were doing and then tried to do the same.

June 12, 2011 at 1:11 AMSome time ago I participated in a ballet class in a sports club in China where we learned to perform a short sequence of the famous "Red Detachment of Women" (红色娘子军 hóngsè niángzǐ jūn). I felt like an elephant among the graceful Chinese ladies, but it was great fun.

May 9, 2011 at 5:10 AMIf one wants to use the toilet maybe one can say 我想方便一下 (wǒ xiǎng fāngbiàn yīxià). I think I have heard this sentence several times.
