I have a few questions. 

1. What is the meaning/function of 了 in the following sentence: 

HSK也算是比较科学的标准化考试了，听说读写都要考查。
HSK yě suànshì bǐjiào kēxué de biāozhǔnhuà kǎoshì le, tīng shuō dú xiě dōu yào kǎochá.
HSK is considered a relatively scientific standardized test. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing are all tested.

2. In the discussion, 意志 in this sentence was translated as "true character." Could you discuss a bit further what 意志 really means? 

这种艰苦的环境非常能够考验一个人的意志。
zhèzhǒng jiānkù de huánjìng fēicháng nénggòu kǎoyàn yī ge rén de yìzhì.
This kind of harsh environment can really test a person's willpower.

3. I have usually seen 已经 paired with 了, but it is not in this sentence. Could you explain why 了 is not used here:

由于时间太长，有些事实已经无法考证。
yóuyú shíjiān tài cháng, yǒuxiē shìshí yǐjīng wúfǎ kǎozhèng.
Because it has been too long of a time, there are some facts that already cannot be proven.

I'd be happy to hear staff chime in on this, but in my experience, "我知道" seems to be the most common way to say "I know," in the sense of "I already knew that before you said it."

In the sentence, "在贵公司工作，能给予我应用在大学所学知识的最好机会。" you use the term 贵公司. Would one always use this term at a job interview? In what other contexts would one use 贵公司? Does it ever sound over-the-top or ridiculous?  

Also, what is the difference between 采用 and 采取?

Some years ago a Chinese teacher of mine said, "近几年开始, 娘娘腔运用的范围比较广泛。" 
I guess this sentence also implies a fresh and novel way of using something. (:
