August 2, 2016 at 10:12 PMI love posture- and movement-related lessons, thank you. Sometimes it's hard to guess which verbs to use.
Does 音感 indicate perfect pitch, or simply that one can hold a tune?

July 22, 2016 at 6:59 PMI'm still a bit unclear as to the meaning of 不甘心. Does it always mean unwilling because you feel you're giving up something you shouldn't have to give up?

July 21, 2016 at 7:42 PMDoes 水开了 mean that the water you have been waiting for has come to a boil? Could it be used to refer to water that is perpetually boiling (such as in a magic cauldron), or would this be a different term?

June 23, 2016 at 10:32 PMI went to Harbin in the summer. (I had intended to go in the winter but had troubles with my visa.)
There are some ice sculptures in the summer in a large building on an island.
Chinese people go there looking for Russians as an attraction; if you're white you might get surrounded by excited Chinese people wanting to take a picture with the "Russian." They were so disappointed to find out I was not.
One thing you neglected to mention in the lesson was what struck me as the most salient feature of the city: it seems that many of the local Chinese *hate* the Russians. Going to a bar, the resentment and distain was palpable. It was recommended I leave early before the inevitable fights began.
You also didn't address the issue of the debate about whether Harbin natives have the most naturally 标准 Mandarin accent. That was actually my reason for going there.

June 10, 2016 at 8:02 PMThese are wonderful! Thanks for pointing out that we can turn them off. I really like to test my listening by just listening to and watching the video the first time through, along with the occasional key words that are presented in text at the bottom. But the transcript is super helpful for going back on a second pass and checking up on those few sections I just can't parse.
