December 26, 2014 at 11:31 AMI see a lot of old poddies still active on the site since I returned, many of which have clearly progressed their knowledge of Chinese language and spoken Mandarin.
If Chinesepod do in fact move to Taiwan I may consider further subscription. Perhaps lessons may then contain subject matter that is currently deemed too sensitive: such are the parameters one needs to stay within in order not to be blocked in China.

December 19, 2014 at 6:35 AM該： In the context of 'this' or 'that' means the above mentioned. Indicates a noun previously mentioned in the same paragraph. I didn't see any use of 該 in the expansion sentences.
我在面試新工作的時候，夜店老闆說公司規定僱傭25歲以下的女士，當他問我是多大的時候，我因為覺得該規定算是年齡歧視，所以沒回答他而轉身走，氣死我了。
In this paragraph 該 clearly indicates the company's employment policy and the use of 而 means 'and'. In the expansion sentences 而 means 'as well as'.
I'm no grammar expert, but I hope that's helpful.

December 28, 2014 at 11:18 AMGood question. 說 is used more commonly in mainland China whereas 講 is more commonly used Taiwan. Both words have the same meaning. 講說 are also used together to add emphasis and ,or, explanation.

妳國語講得很標準。國語：Mandarin dialect in Taiwan，National language。
你會講中文嗎？
妳會說中文嗎？
中國還有很多不會說普通話的人， 尤其是老年人和居住偏僻的鄉村的少數民族。
普通話： Common spoken language,Mandarin dialect in mainland China. 尤其： Particularly. 偏僻：Remote. 少數民族：Ethnic minorities.
對於未來兩岸關係的趨勢，有些社會科學教授講說因為台灣國民黨這次選舉大敗了，所以這表示公民對執政黨的兩岸關係有關的政策不滿，接下來幾個政治評論家講說若下次大選民進黨當選的話，那就會導致中共非常的不滿。
