My idea is just to have one clean file we can download that contains everything in one, in addition to still having the seperate files up there as well (and bring back the transcript as part of the file always viewable on your IPOD screen). I know there are different strokes for different folks and I respect that. I'm not trying to step on anyone else's toes here, I completely respect that everyone has different learning methods.

December 8, 2007 at 12:43 AMBy the way isn't it 儿话音？ People keep posting about Peter's "儿话", or can it be said both ways? Also who was the actor that played Peter? He was definately not a native speaker, 一听就知道他是高鼻子的老外说中国话, but not bad, not bad at all.

December 7, 2007 at 5:49 AMYes and it was only to get out my idea about having one file that gives us the whole thing in one, the text (on our Ipod screen), as well as The Fix along with the Podcast as a CONTIGUOUS file. http://www.google.com/search?svnum=10&hl=en&q=define:+contiguous&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=iw While I'm driving 65 down a crowded California freeway it's VERY dangerous to go looking through my Ipod for "The Fix" to A Jizhou Identity Revealed after I finish listening to the podcast. When I'm sitting in a restaurant or a park and I want to read the text file corresponding to "A Jizhou Identity Revealed" it would be nice to just grab my Ipod and read. This way for all us who paid to subscribe to Chinesepod (unlike some users who even make it clear in their bio that they will NEVER EVER become a subscriber), should be given as many perks and benefits of our subscription as possible. If Chinesepod offer too much for free, then who would ever be motivated to upgrade? The thing is, if I want to get that message out for other people who may also want this type of benefit to write to Ken and the illustrious staff here at Chinesepod and make it known that they that THEY TOO would like that service provided, it would be nice to quickly spread to word instead of limiting the message to only one forum, one place, I would like it not to just be limited to those coming into the forum for "A Jizhou Revealed" to find my message I'm sure my idea is not a new one, however it's an idea that I think should finally have it's day in the sun.

December 7, 2007 at 5:09 AMI just love how Chittywangwang is belittling new ideas. Chittywangwang's idea of the perfect society is one that never progresses. If Chittywangwang was alive during the caveman days, she would have been the one who said, "what do we need this FIRE thing for? Meat tastes better raw and bloody anyway and only 50% of the population doesn't die from freezing to death each winter...that's right, 50% of the population is STILL HASN'T DIED AT ALL!" Chittywangwang is the one who said to Ben Franklin, "what do we need this newfangled Electricity thing for? If we harness the power of electricity for mankinds benefit it will just make the great electricity sky god very angry, and he'll punish us with some crazy locust plague and who wants to deal with icky Locusts anyway?" Chittywangwang is the one who said to the Wright brothers, "Hey you two, IF God had meant for man to fly, then he would have given us....hhmmmm...wait there's gotta be some kinda clever catch phrase here...let me think about that and get back with you..." and of course never came back.

For those of us trying to enjoy the story unfolding here, it's annoying not to know which to play first, second, third and so on? Also is there ANY WAY for us paid members of Chinesepod to get just ONE FILE that contains the Podcast, The Fix, and The Lesson PDF all in one? Of course the written text wouldn't be a PDF it would be part of the podcast like it USED TO BE but then was removed later. It's would be really convenient to be able to do everything from your IPOD and not have to search under different tabs to go back and find THE FIX, for the corresponding podcast....let's make it all ONE CONTIGUOUS FILE...WHO'S WITH ME???!!!

December 16, 2007 at 7:19 AMTo me the hardest part about the tones is not saying them correctly, it's the 3rd tone Sandhi phenomenon. When 2 or more tones appear in a row all but the last one change to 2nd tone (and even then it's a sort of half 2nd tone...as if it wasn't complicated enough...) Even after 5 years learning the language I still have to plan out my 3rd tones, chinging them still don't come naturally, and it's far from automatic. Does anyone have any good advice on how to make it more natural and intuitive?
