April 14, 2012 at 1:45 PMIs there a reason we always first learn 太太tàitai and 先生xiānsheng and only much later 老公，老婆 ?
After I use 太太, people usually look at me a bit strange, then discuss among themselves how funny it is that foreigners always say it like this. In normal on the street conversation I only hear 老公 老婆, and I understand it's a bit informal.
I also understand 太太tàitai and 先生xiānsheng is appropriate for Madam, or Sir in a service context, but what is the appropriate context for the husband and wife meaning (it does not seem to be normal daily language) ?

September 20, 2011 at 12:03 AMAnother great dialog, tool a while to wrap my head around 而且还是 among a couple of other things. Quick comment: pinyin in dialog and PDF says 联系方式 comes out as liánjì, but should be liánxì if I understand correctly.
Also would be helpful if yi-tone conversion rules were applied in the PDF, like 一件 yíjiàn and 一床 yi4chuang2

just one question, trying to lookup 质地 zhidi (quality, texture) all of my dictionaries say it should be two four tones, but in the transcript here it says 2nd and neutral. Can someone help out and clarify a bit?

A. 假设 C. 态度 B. 说谎 D. 比较
and apparently the correct answer is D, is this right? are we really meant to say 最好多比较比较?

October 19, 2010 at 1:41 PMam I crazy or is pinyin not matching the characters? I did know that sometimes pinyin differs for the same characters along with pronunciation depending on context, is this one of those places?
I see 负责任的 in the dialog in the second sentence, but the pinyin says fù zérèn fù de? It is the same on the website and in the PDF. Help?

October 15, 2010 at 12:27 AMI thought the difficulty level of this particular lesson was average, they get a bit harder later. This is based on my view of intermediate lessons up to track #150 or so. As pretzellogic mentioned, toward the current lessons, they mellow out again, sounds good to me. I thought this level was perfect, I got 5 new words, with plenty of examples, which is my goal.

October 5, 2010 at 6:05 AMhad a lesson today, and the teacher said "吃喝玩乐看" would never appear in common speech... "吃喝玩乐" is a set phrase and it didn't make any sense to add 看 at the end.
Can anyone comment on the possibility of 吃喝玩乐看 ? Is this a special case, is there any info for me to defend this sentence to my teacher?
