if one replied with 还好, it would imply that one is not travelling so well.
common greetings to people one is on friendly terms with are : 怎么样？爪子嘛! (sichuanese, don't ask me what it means, but i'm guessing 'what's up'?)

November 2, 2009 at 4:13 PMthere appears to be subtle differences in the intended meaning of 还可以hai2ke2yi3 and 还好hai2hao3 from region to region. for example when i stayed in taiwan i learned that 还好 meant good, not bad, but here in sichuan it carries a negative connotation: not real good, below average. 还可以 however implies good, above average.

as i'm writing this post, it turns out that i haven't yet learned that if one rests a lit cigarette on a disposable lighter and doesn't pay attention then the lighter will explode!
i'm not sure of the number of times i've jumped out of my seat from in front of a computer screen as a result of this yet to be memorised lesson.

November 2, 2009 at 7:10 AM刚才发现了，玩这个游戏的小偷也可以改邪归正！按照游戏规则之一，小偷玩友为了升级就得帮帮喜欢的其他的小偷玩友除草。一边给玩友除草，一边偷他的饭给吃掉。很公平我觉得。就是说，因为我是帮你除草，你种的菜就多了，所以我同时偷你成熟的菜应该没没得问题。
