April 4, 2008 at 2:30 PMI can not read all this negaitve post about Ken without having to add: I think he is a very good teacher. His humor and his enthusiastic way to adore bits of chinese language are making his lessons so enjoyable. I had so many teachers during my study who knew so much but where miserable in teaching. Love to have one now who is a great entertainer, too! I sticked to chinesepod after finding it also because lessons are so very funny and Ken and Jenny seem to have fun doing it - which made me study much more, just for the fun of it! And if all the male learners are all talking about falling in love with Jenny from her voice (which is lovely indeed!)... from the perspective of a female learner i would say its the same for Kens voice! ;-). 格桑 (p.s. sure there are many things to criticize when i write english here...well aren't we all learners? i wouldn't even say i am perfect in german, which is my mother tongue...)

April 4, 2008 at 8:53 AMI have a question about using 起 in: 我会确保在做生意之前建立起良好的关系。As 建立 is -to establish- without 起, could you just drop it? Is it a variation of the verb, or is it a kind of grammar point i didnt come to before? ...and another question about 之前. in the text and in the expansion sentences there is always 在...something...之前. is this the pattern 之前 is usually used? do you only use it after 在... or are there other ways to use it (in case, could you give an example?)? thanks, 格桑
