I found 屈光度 qu1guang1du4 for diopter in Mdbg... Diopter is used in Germany and Switzerland...maybe Europe, I don't know...(also in US?).

Will Chinese opticians have an idea about this system?

But I heard that's why we left-handed people have better motor skills with BOTH hands...(are better with the right hand, than right handed with the left)...because we are used to deal with all the right-hand designed stuff.

A comfort for annoying lefty-situations in a right-handed world (like zhenlijiangs described whiteboard experience etc.,etc. )!!?

The expansion sentence： 你想我们一起住吗？

1）Is 你想跟我们一起住吗？ also correct？

2）The translation given is "Do you want to live with us?". Would "Do you want to live with me?(want us to live together) also be a possible translation,

...or 3）would [4）could] this  [also] be 你想跟我一起住吗？

？

In the Lesson headline it is 另外的， in all the examples it is 另外一个（两个）...(except when used as additionally...)  

Is it same for 另外的 like 其他的...: 的 can be dropped in most cases?

-> 另外的一个人。。。也可以说吗？

Is there a difference in use of 其他的 and 其它的。。。 for example if you write about another person it should be 其他的 and if you write about another object it should be 其它的?

1)no idea, 我不吃肉;-)

part of 2) the first one is dim sum 點心 traditional variant, Cantonese pronunciation. And in my understanding it can be a dumpling..but it may also be all sorts of stuff you may have for Dimsum lunch.

I also saw 点心 used for "sweets" or "snacks", whereas 饺子 is always a dumpling...I think... others to complete/correct please;)

interesting... I never saw this constructions that way... But used in sentences, does the可 really function as an emphasis particle here? 他很可爱，这个电影太可怕的，。。。有什么可怕的？ Maybe it is more a 3rd use of 可 ? I don't know, maybe I am totally wrong...just write what I think..or maybe I overanalyse ;-)

Thanks zhenlijiang, it was a useful answer, no 废话 at all ;)

I especially liked the才example... As it is often very complicated to explain the use of a word I feel I learn a lot from examples...and I always use them when explaining something to my Chinese language partner!

Any 可 sentences coming to your mind:)?
