this is really a very good explanaiton for the structure of the ba-sentences! Thanks! I definatly add this to my ba-sentence explanation collection :-)!!
But I am still little afraid ;-) because there seem to be so many rules around the construction.
In the thread I linked to above Changye gave very good explanations (as always! so happy you are out there changye ;-)!) to some of the rules.
Unfortunately the posts in this (older) thread changed...maybe after a maintenance of the homepage...and changyes formerly nice stuctured posts became continuous texts..but the information is still there...!

I am still not sure when to use...for the first step i decided it is enough for me to understand the sentendes...and use 把 in my own sentences later，or only in few occasions ... ;-)!

March 29, 2009 at 3:24 PMHenning, it was in my Pleco-dict...but QIM and my other 汉字 input programm didn't know it...
so..as you never spare any effort to help..
I painted the character for you in photoshop...I tried to build it using radicals from "symbols" but it didn't really work...How do you create a proper character if it is not in the input programm? Apparently I dont know ;-)!! (have a laugh at this...its hard to write with the photoshop pen... :-))
Plecodict 2.0 says:

and for the same character:cei3: s.v.<slang> ugly-looking.
Normally Pleco gives radical, kantonese pronunciation etc. info and definition info when you tap on the character in the dictionary screen...but not for this one..must be very rare...

I think the measure word for 筷子 is 双 shuang1...pair of kuaizi...
(but rare are the situations I DO know the measure word... I love 个 :-)...and could tell you about so many of those "usually accompanied by..." situations :-))

When I read your comment I actually had to listen into a lesson to get what you mean... because I never realized. (I am listening to Ken for almost a year now, I always just enjoyed!)
I had to do this because I cant stand to read such kind of criticism about little personal habits of the Cpod teachers. I remember a hot discussion in a thread after somebody moaned about Jenny doing too much "ng"... many others seemed to love those... I love Kens humor and love to listen to him and sometimes listen to lessons only to hear him again even if I already learned the new chinese vocabs.
I think there are too much good sides in all the Cpod lessons and the whole concept of this page to harp on about those things. Do like Mr. Calkins already mentioned: focus on the things you can learn from. There will be a lot.
Sorry, but why do you listen to Ken if your brian is so much faster than Kens and if you already have your own students? Seems you are just bored in Newbie/Elementary lessons? (see paragraph above).

When I read the title of the new Airport-Elementary of today, I remembered I planed to post a special thanks to this lesson!:-)
China Air lost one of my bags when I went from Chengdu and Shanghai about 2 weeks ago.
I used the first sentence of the dialog 1:1!
For the rest of the conversation I doubt that I formed many more correct sentences...and I missed MANY words... I am sure it was real fun for the airport stuff to listen ;)... But at least I did it to get my bag send to the hotel the next day!

For me bills way to compare this with those prefixed objects in french/spanish/italian Grammar was especially helpful.
miantiao, 我同意，你们的学法很不一样。对我来说都非常重要的啊！Ones personal approach is sometimes so helpful for others! But I also need to go 阿皮s way and try to understand the rules provided in grammar books. Peace guys ;-) ha ha!
frognotinawell, from what I did learn about the 把 sentences is, that it is used when the object goes before the verb, which must be reduplicated or accompanied by some other word or expression.
Instead of 他把一个苹果吃。
it should be (for example) 他把一个苹果吃了。
In 我把一个鸡蛋吃了。我把一个鸡蛋吃过。I am not sure but I think the first one is : I finished eating an egg; whereas the second one would be like: "I already ate an egg" in the sense of "I did it before, I experienced the action of eating an egg before."
I think...can somebody comfirm?
I am absolutely voting for a QINGWEN on 把 too!!! Or at least an entry in the Grammar section!!
