I think Gwilym does an excellent job and is very easy to listen to. I can understand a French person having difficulty adjusting to an English accent they are not used to but find it hard to believe a native English speaking American would have any problem. Seems extremely picky and harsh to suggest he loses his job over it. Also, Im no fan of trained newscaters voices...can sound too unnatural and sausage factory like for mine.

Yeah I agree. The whole thing with putting strong pressure on people to drink is ridiculous. Why is it so important? But I think it happens to varying extents in other cultures as well.

"真可惜,你的人生少了很多乐趣啊" ...to this I'd wanna say 狗屁, but the irony is, if you are harrassed and pressured about it enough in this way then maybe there'd be a certain self fulfilling prophesy in it

haha, I was already liking this one "千杯不醉" but "不醉不归" is even better. An example from jukuu:

As the popular Chinese sayings go, "one would never stop drinking before getting drunk" and "one will not return home before getting drunk", it is regarded as the most lofty realm of wine drinking to get drunk.

中国 有 俗语 说 “一醉方休 ”、“不醉不归 ”。“醉 ”被 当做 喝酒 的 最 高 境界
