Hey Steve,

While you are waiting for a teacher reply I thought I'd just share my thoughts on your first point. In my experience 这样啊 is used quite commonly by Chinese. It's even been one of those habit phrases I use myself [ does that happen to you mate? ...some phrases just stick and you end up using them quite a bit?...maybe more than they should be? hehe...heck I hope I'm not alone here]. I can't point you to a specific lesson off the top of my head, but I've definitely heard it at least in discussions and also in my speaking with Chinese people. Literally meaning " this way" ...its kind of like the English " oh, its like that...I see". I hope that makes sense and is of some use mate. Cheers :)

Hi bodawei,

Sorry, only just seen your reply myself. I'm not aware of any notification as such, but the easiest way I know to see if there is a response to a comment is to go on Conversations tab, and under that where is says "Display posts from" click on "People who replied to me" and voila you'll see all your replies there.

Yeah, I certainly see the convenience of the tablet platform/smartphone app, but I also agree its more mafan to interact with the community there so I generally use the website on my desktop computer unless it's just listening to a lesson in my car which I use the iphone for.

Haha, well I reckon a chinese 5th grader would run rings around me these days but it's nice to have a goal, hehe ;)

I agree, I love the poetry, and love that it's something grade 3 kids learn. Makes it cute and also somehow seems more important now to my own education. haha, reminds me of the tv show, "are you as smarter than a 5th grader?"...maybe that should be my ultimate goal..to be smarter than a Chinese 5th grader ;)

I agree. Skritter is awesome. The timing of this lesson was so funny for me because after a very long absence from skritter I had got back into it just a few weeks before this lesson. I agree with the advice about learning the radicals. If you know the radicals everything else becomes so much easier. I also love that skritter tests you on the tones. Finally, skritter has hsk lists, and I believe you can create lists from CPod vocab.
