Sorry to post this question here, but I can no longer find where to start a new thread in like general discussion. So firstly, any tips on how to do that now?

Secondly, I'm wondering why there have been no new lessons since Thursday. Is there a new publishing schedule? I had a look on the blog, I can't see any announcement anywhere.

Gwil, thanks for your response. I just clicked on your link and I like what you've done there, and like the slider at the bottom. It looks great.  I love the whole collaborative effort thing. To play the devils advocate though, looking at how you've embedded it in the lesson discussion, I'm wondering how this will end up being received. Firstly you've said that it would be made very clear that it was a user collaborative effort...good idea...but it's not made clear in the example you've just created. I realise you've responded really quickly and whipped this example up in no time...good work and that making clear business is yet to be done. But what I'm saying is that I don't think it will suffice to have it mentioned in podcasts or announced somewhere on the site. Plenty of new users, or infrequent users just won't come across such announcements. I think it would need to be plastered across each and every pdf. My second concern is that while I'd love to see an enthusiastic group of users rise to the task, even when the transcript group was at its peak activity we were never getting every lesson transcripted or completed. So if its made to look too official I'm concerned that this will raise an unrealistic expectation amongst users and they may start demanding/complaining, where's my transcript? I'm loving your enthusiasm though. These are just concerns, and I'm certainly not opposed to the example you've given. It is cool.

From the dialogue tab, B's first line has 陈总 translated as Mr Chen, but clearly A is played by a female voice.

From dialogue tab, the audio of A's last line is missing this bit:

啊!有人来了,我得回去了。

and as for this missing 还不是一样, can I just confirm here A is referring to staff within her company....are all in disagreement as to whether to go or not. ie. A is not saying she is 不一样 to B, right?

From the Dialogue tab, A's 3rd line is incomplete. It is transcribed as:

我们每年也都要来不来的。毕竟我们一些大客户都是之前在展场碰到的,但是来了又觉得开销大,再加上每年参展人数跟买气都在下降

...I think these are the missing bits in brackets:

我们   [ 还不是一样]    每年  [ no 也 here ]   都要来不来的。 [ 不来觉得会不会少了一些机会]    毕竟我们一些大客户都是之前在展场碰到的,但是来了又觉得开销大,再加上每年参展人数跟买气都在下降

...not certain about "会不会少了"

Hey Gwilym,

Thanks for your suggestions and help. I just had a look at the shared spreadsheet. Maybe its just that I'm not used to spreadsheets, but I don't find this improves on the existing system [ personally I would find it harder to use and be less motivated to use it]. Also, with the existing system, it has been users working on it so bound to be full of errors or omissions. To date it has relied on more advanced students pitching in with corrections and suggestions [ sometimes uncertain themselves]. So the current system allows for these replies [ not sure how this would work in a spreadsheet]. So personally I'd prefer to go with the current system. On the other hand, if you wanted to use the spreadsheet system yourself for entering a fully corrected transcript that was worked on in the original system then fine. I also like the idea of an official PDF. But to clarify there....are you or someone else from the team going to correct our transcript? If so, awesome, if not, then it will need to be made very clear that it is a transcript produced by users and thus could well have errors/omissions.

Good question Veronique. I can't find one either, so could be a good lesson suggestion. Here's the best I could find:

https://chinesepod.com/library/tag/books

https://chinesepod.com/lessons/romance-of-the-three-kingdoms

https://chinesepod.com/library/tag/literature

https://chinesepod.com/lessons/a-good-book

https://chinesepod.com/lessons/80%E5%90%8E%E4%BD%9C%E5%AE%B6#vocabulary-tab

...can't see anything that comprehensively covers the different genres in one lesson.
