I totally agree with you about the benefits of good acting. In fact I see it as one of the strengths of the site for the very reasons you state. I had not listened to this dialogue before so just had a listen. All I can say is that this lesson was only about 7 months after the site started and CPod has come a very long way since then. I've not gotten around to listening to hardly any old lesson due to time constraints, [except for some old gems that other poddies have pointed out] but all I can say is the acting quality and the lessons have been excellent since I joined in August 2008. I suggest give some more recent lessons a shot in an area that interests you. If you'd like some suggestions, some of the favourites from last year are nominated here:

February 22, 2011 at 6:06 AMsuch a truck sounds about right too. 10 over on a car sounds a bit of a stretch. A bus maybe able to squeeze on 10 over the limit without drawing too much comment...but a truck...yeah, doable but dangerous.

I think the buyers may still be happy because it's still a better deal than they can get elsewhere and may be well aware of what it's costing her and the markup. I just meant lets call a spade a spade. It's business [and it sounds like she's making a tidy profit, not just getting something small for her troubles], not doing anyone favours.

Part of the reason I find it confusing that 代购 is being used in that way if the stewardess is the one making a profit here is the part of the definition "on behalf of". Really, it sounds to me like she's doing it for her own benefit as much as anything else, running a little business and she has her own captured little market. In English I wouldn't use the "on behalf of" bit if I was doing it to make a profit...to me it sounds a bit dishonest and not upfront.

February 22, 2011 at 4:52 AMMy understanding is that 各位 is much more formal. It is used for example in train station announcements. I think if you rocked up to a gathering of your mates and addressed them with 各位 it would sound strange. I'd use 大家 as your default unless your about to address a very formal gathering.
