August 12, 2011 at 2:53 AMoh man, John makes me feel old when he says that the saying "be there or be square" is outdated. I'd still be half inclined to use it, but sort of jokingly I guess. I s'pose you don't hear others say it much any more. I have a feeling if I asked my kids about it they'd probably laugh. Yeah, it has that James Dean vibe about it....cool lingo at the time but I guess it's been a few years now, hehe.

August 11, 2011 at 3:33 AM当然,it depends just how 密闭 this 密闭的空间 really is. If we were to take it as totally airtight, then how can the smell of gas be wafting from the dixiashi? That would suddenly throw suspicion on the person who reported the gas in the first place.

August 11, 2011 at 2:40 AM"Wasnt it Sherlock Holmes that always said "elementary my dear Watson"?"
I know that is the perception out there, but can you show me where he actually said that? Apparently while he's said "elementary" and "my dear Watson", he's never said the two together. [very reminiscent of Bogeys "play it again Sam"]
"key had been removed from the elementary canal by nefarious means"
..haha, very punny. Good one mate.
"Im keeping what I know, under my hat"
..why? keep it under black if you like, but you know it doesn't count if you come out after the fact and say you knew it was that all along. Be brave...put it out there RJ. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

August 10, 2011 at 6:55 AMCPod, this lesson has been out over a week now. I think we're going to start needing some direction as to whether any of our guesses are on the right track or not. I don't know about others, but I don't want hints. It'd just be nice to know if we were on the right track anywhere.

August 10, 2011 at 6:51 AMWhat gets me about both what you've suggested and also my stabs at it [hehe, pardon the pun] is that you could make up a dozen such stories. Perhaps yours is the most plausible so far, but I don't with any of them get that aha feeling that ...oh, it has to be this and nothing else....it suddenly explains things that I didn't even realise were clues. The I know this is right feeling. I just hope the true answer does have that about it...oh yes, that's it..I can see why it's that and nothing else.

August 8, 2011 at 6:57 AMI note the big sleeves the hanfu has as discussed in the podcast. I was wondering if they really did carry gear in the sleeves, and if so, what they did to prevent it falling out...walk around with arms crossed?
