good question mate. I of course don't have an authoritative answer and hope that you do get one but I will just make the observation that while I"m not sure about "most", I have often noted more than one measure word for many nouns. You are right in that 条 is also a measure word for 线. Not only that, but 根 can also be used. Also, don't forget that 个 can often be used even though it is often a lot less accurate. But putting 个 aside, I'd be most interested also to know if there is a difference in usage. Which is most commonly used, how to tell, etc. Of course, in the interim you can always do a google search. Not only will you get an idea of which is most common, but also if you look at the examples in the hits, you may [or may not] spy a pattern of when one is used instead of another.

ok, I didn't really mean the old fashioned tracking to a fixed landline like in the old movies where it depended how long you kept them on the phone. I don't know if that type of tracking works on mobiles. But you can definitely accurately work out the location of a mobile, if it is allowed. I think there are a few ways to do that. Some smartphones have apps for it.

。。哈哈，wildly inaccurate guesses that were way off track you mean, hehe. Actually, even knowing now how things have turned out, I was only yesterday thinking how Litanzhang could have taken advantage of the 摄影机 being on him to do a spot of hypnotising via videocam 【it could have been a race though to see if he could put heimao in a hypnotic state before he himself passed out...heck if he passed out while heimao was still hypnotised..what then?]....he could then have got heimao to let go of his past issues, repent his current ways and perhaps even embrace litanzhang vowing to be a devoted disciple.
