Some people also say 'yous' in Australia. But it is a sign of someone with little or no education. Case in point: boxer Jeff Fenech.

(I wonder, if we heard someone utter 'Yous can never have enough ram', would we imagine we were listening to a speech on computing, or on sheep husbandry?)

Well the first example has progressed well past the stage where most people would consider it to be an Americanism.

But the original point (6 months ago) was that Americanisms should not be used to explain Chinese to a multinational audience. What is the point of an explanation if the explanation itself needs explaining by a 3rd party?

You did the right thing by explaining the meaning of 'dink'. (Not that I expect that - I'm not paying you.) If CPod did that, then I wouldn't have a problem.

Re your new name, I really think you should hide your sensitivity to mere typos.

Strange. We actually agree that Americanisms have nothing to do with learning Chinese (your words, and my reason for the complaint). Then you say you appreciate learning them on this site.

Many Chinese people seem to pronounce 'píng' as pyng, where the y is the y in 'you' and not the y in 'cyst'. In English words, this semi-vowel y sound must always be followed by another full vowel, but in Chinese it seems that only the semi-vowel y sound is needed in words ending in ing. I notice this least in 4th-tone syllables and most in 2nd-tone syllables.

If it sounds like "To get a fork", then its only one step away from being somewhat embarrassing for ChinesePod.
