July 16, 2013 at 5:25 PMI know that 甚至 is more like "even" than "even if." Still, I seem to have seen it in a number of "even if" sentences. Could someone explain how 甚至 fits in?

July 6, 2013 at 6:00 PMCan 亏 be used to introduce a sarcastic remark about a situation rather than a person? Such as, "Oh, it's a good thing we got up so early to get good seats for the game; it's been rained out anyway."
Or is 亏 always followed directly by a person: 亏谁……?

July 1, 2013 at 10:15 PMDragonfruit are readily available in specialty or high-end grocery stores in Vancouver. All the ones I've had have been exceptionally bland, however. Perhaps they don't travel well.
Similarly, I'm crazy about 山竹, but you just can't get good ones around here. I got some good ones in Beijing and some better ones in Sichuan. Locals told me that next time I go to China I should plan a trip to Yunnan in late May if I want to have really good 山竹 and other tropical fruits.
