I just checked that lesson and found that 要不然 in dialogue could be translated as 'how about' according to context. In the context that speaker is offering another solution in the sentence of 要不然. I feel the translation could be somewhere in between 'or' and 'how about'. So I don't think the translation is wrong. For those expansion sentences, I think it's better to use 要不 instead of 要不然. We will fix that. Thanks for pointing it out.

October 10, 2014 at 2:20 AM要不然 is usually translated as 'otherwise, or else'. “然” here means “这样"，so literally 要不然 is 'if don't do this'.
The meaning of 要不 is really depending on context, like what we've mentioned in this podast. It can be the same meaning as 要不然(or else) or 要不要(how about) in colloquial situation.

"嘛" usually express a tone of demandnig or to call attention to an obvious thing or matter. Like，
在哪里？这里嘛。to call attention to an obvious thing or matter
过年嘛，大家都很开心。to call attention to an obvious thing or matter
别躲了。is like 'stop hiding'.
别躲嘛。is like 'I'm asking you to stop hiding (in a soft tone).'
In the dialogue,
我也要买眼霜和洗面奶了。expressing a tone of confirmation
我也要买眼霜和洗面奶嘛。expressing the tone of demanding

指演出本身
1. 在一段时间内，演出比较集中，比如每天演出一部话剧。这个时候，就会说联演。（我觉得对话中就是指这种情况）
2.在一天或更短时间内，接连有好几个精彩演出（可能不会是演出的整个部分，比如一部话剧的第一场），比如A戏的第一场演完后，马上是B戏的第三场。
指演出者
3. 在一段时间内，有好几个明星接连出现，演出相同或不同的戏。这个也可以被称为联演。但一般指中国戏曲或戏剧的情况比较多。演唱会等一般不会用这个词。
