Hello, the conversation is indeed a bit fast for elementary learners. You can also watch the video at a slower speed by clicking the "setting" button in the video. Also, take advantage of the video and watch it as many times as you want! Let us know if you have any questions.

It's so interesting how the gestures are all different all over the world! Many people might rely on gestures when they first learn a language, but actually there are many nuisances in gestures that it's very easy to get confused:)

要 usually refers to actions that will happen in the future, so in this case you can translate it into "want/will". But interestingly this sentence without 要 also makes sense.

Interesting question! For me, the black tea looks red, so it makes a lot of sense to call it "red tea"! What do you think is the color of 红茶?

Exactly! 受 usually means receiving something abstract, especially with emotions and feelings. E.g. 受骗, 受惊, 受寒. And 收 refers to receiving an actual object (doesn't have to be physical), e.g. 收包裹, 收件.

Hello! I'm glad to hear that you ventured beyond your level and still managed to enjoy this lesson. That's great! I think the term used to have bad connotations but in recent years it has become more of an endearing term. But language sometimes can be very objective so everyone's perspective and emotions on a certain word is definitely valid. I'm sorry that this term has been used in a derogatory manner in your case. What kind of terminology do you think would make an expat feel welcome in China?

Very good question! This would relate to the the entire word because we usually don't use single characters as standalone words. 受 and 收 both can mean to accept or receive. For example, 接受 "receive" (usually something abstract), 收信 "recieve email".
