tā xiǎnran yīn cǐzhǒng yánggāng hé yīnróu zhīfēn ér gǎndào zìháo 。qíshí Dōngpō zhī cí hécháng dōu shì “dà jiāng dōng qù ”？“xiào jiàn bù wén shēng jiàn yǎo ，duōqíng què bèi wúqíng nǎo ”；“xiùlián kāi ，yīdiǎn míngyuè kuī rén ”；zhèxiē cí jù ，kǒngpà yě zhǐ hé shíqī bā nǚláng màn shēng dī chàng ba ？

He clearly felt proud of this kind of distinction between masculine and feminine, but actually it's not like Su Dongpo's ci are all like 'The River Surges Eastward'". Wouldn't lines of poetry like, "Gradually, the laughter within the walls faded, and the passersby dispersed. As if one's passion was injured by the ruthlessness of a young girl." and "Through the embroidered curtain, the moon steals a furtive glance at her." also maybe only be appropriate for young girls of 17 or 18 to sing in modest voices?

但是平时为什么我们提起一个人，就觉得他是阳刚，而提起另一个人，又觉得他是阴柔呢？这是因为各人心里的猛虎和蔷薇所成的形势不同。

dànshì píngshí wèishénme wǒmen tíqǐ yī ge rén ，jiù juéde tā shì yánggāng ，ér tíqǐ lìng yīgerén ，yòu juéde tā shì yīnróu ne ？zhè shì yīnwèi gè rén xīnli de měng hǔ hé qiángwēi suǒ chéng de xíngshì bùtóng 。

But why do we, when mentioning a particular person, think that they are masculine, and when mentioning another person, think that he's feminine? This is because the tiger and the rose in everyone's heart take different forms.

有人的心原是虎穴，穴口的几朵蔷薇免不了猛虎的践踏；有人的心原是花园，园中的猛虎不免给那一片香潮醉倒。所以前者气质近于阳刚，而后者气质近于阴柔。

yǒurén de xīn yuán shì hǔ xué ，xué kǒu de jǐ duǒ qiángwēi miǎnbuliǎo měng hǔ de jiàntà ；yǒurén de xīn yuán shì huāyuán ，yuán zhōng de měng hǔ bù miǎn gěi nà yī piàn xiāng cháo zuìdǎo 。suǒyǐ qiánzhě qìzhì jìn yú yánggāng ，ér hǒuzhě qìzhì jìn yú yīnróu 。

Some people's hearts start out as tiger lairs, with the roses at the mouth of the tiger's lair inevitably being trampled by the tiger; some people's hearts start out as gardens, and the tiger in the garden is inevitably intoxicated by the fragrance. So the nature of the former is closer to masculine, and the nature of the latter is closer to feminine.

所谓雄伟和秀美，所谓外向和内向，所谓戏剧型的和图画型的，所谓戴奥尼苏斯艺术和阿波罗艺术，所谓“金刚怒目，菩萨低眉”，所谓“静如处女，动如脱兔”，姚姬传所谓的阳刚和阴柔，都无非是这两种气质的注脚。

Majesty and grace, extroversion and introversion, theater and painting, Dionysusian art and Apollonian art, the fierce stare of an attendant of the Buddha and the lowered gaze of the Bodhisattva, or the coyness of the maid and the rapidity of the rabbit from 'The Nine Situations' in Sunzi's Art of War, and Yao Nai's concept of masculine and feminine, are all but footnotes to these two aspects.

对，刚，强，兵，飞等字都比较阳刚，通常用做男生名。丽，婷，萍，菲等字则比较阴柔，自然在女生名中比较流行。不过倒是有女生起比较男性化的名字，倒显得很帅气和有个性。比如说“若男”，就能体现女子坚强的一面。不过现代人都不是特别讲究了，只要好听和有涵义就好。当然也不排除有的家庭为了图吉利，会特意请算命师帮忙起个涵义特别好的名字。

duì ，gāng ，qiáng ，bīng ，fēi děng zì dōu bǐjiào yánggāng ，tōngcháng yòng zuò nánshēng míng 。lí ，tíng ，píng ，fēi děng zì zé bǐjiào yīnróu ，zìrán zài nǚshēng míng zhōng bǐjiào liúxíng 。bùguò dàoshì yǒu nǚshēng qǐ bǐjiào nánxìnghuà de míngzi ，dǎo xiǎnde hěn shuàiqì hé yǒu gèxìng 。bǐrú shuō “ruònán ”，jiù néng tǐxiàn nǚzǐ firm de yīmiàn 。bùguò xiàndàirén dōu bù shì tèbié jiǎngjiu le ，zhǐyào hǎotīng hé yǒu hányì jiù hǎo 。dāngrán yě bù páichú yǒude jiātíng wèile tú jílì ，huì tèyì qǐng suànmìngshī bāngmáng qǐ ge hányì tèbié hǎo de míngzi 。

Right. Names like ''Steel," ''Strong," ''Soldier," ''Flying," and so on are more masculine, and they're often used in boys' names. Names like ''Pretty," ''Graceful," ''Grass," and ''Fragrant" are more feminine, and they're naturally popular as girls' names. But some girls do have rather masculine names, so that they seem elegant and distinctive. For example, ''like a man" can express a lady's strong side. But modern people don't take it all that seriously anymore. As long as it sounds good and has some meaning, it's fine. Of course, we can't rule out that in some families hire a fortune teller to help them choose an extremely auspicious name, for the sake of getting good fortune.
