August 2, 2009 at 2:49 AMBaba, I actually saw Jenny explaining the MW 座 to a poddie quite recently but can't recall which lesson or if it was even a recent lesson. It's generally for large-scale things firmly planted on the earth (not to be moved anytime soon) such as mountains 一座山, higher buildings 两座高楼, dams 水库三座, palaces 四座宫殿, temples 五座寺庙, bronze statues 六座铜像. Sorry, my dictionary doesn't explain why it shows the dam example in that way but not the others, with the quantity and MW after the noun--could anyone shed light?
座 also means "seat" "be seated", so you can kind of get an image of "not going anywhere" from that too.
大桥 is the bridge (big bridge); the rollover needs to be fixed.

And somewhere along there you've been provoked? But by nothing that I can see. Look here again on another day maybe. No one is threatening to take your privileges away. Raygo and I joke about looking over our shoulders for the drivel police but it's never about posting privileges being taken away. I'm probably really halfway on the DP black list myself, but I'm not worrying about that.
