朱琦老师您好！
几个礼拜前我在 Activity Stream 上看见过您说到“洗菜”。这个习惯我一个朋友（日本人，住在深圳三年）以前也说过。她说的是，蔬菜只有深深地泡在水里才能用做菜（这是真的？假的？），每天要从三点钟头开始泡，否则六点半开始做饭就来不及了。她也说，好多日本人用日本的洗洁精（洗菜专用的）洗菜。
我不知道她的这个做法与看法正常不正常（可能是只限日本 expat community 的一种‘疯常识’？）。
您可以说一下使我们了解你们一般的洗菜吗？ I would love to know.

也许这个问题有一点离题，对不起。我原来在AS开始写，但在那里要更简洁，字数一下子就没了。于是来这里问问。这样的日常生活的不同我总觉得挺有趣的。

哟，Bababardwan 你亲自坐感觉的（记忆中的）时间很短了啊！
嗯，可能是这个数据库算的‘总时间＇是控制程序一趟的所需时间？
Maybe this RollerCoaster Database's listed "total time" refers to the duration of one lap of the (computer) program for this ride?  I am trying to say here.

根据过山车数据库，总时间是　二十八秒钟！
（还很短。你应该排多长时间队才坐？）
Haha, sorry that was so anticlimactic. 附带说一下Changye 曾经带孩子坐的过山车的所需时间是１分３０秒钟头。

在 Tower of Terror 数据里面也有这一件（一条？）：

Bababardwan, but how well do you know your favorite (looks absolutely terrifying! you could not pay me to.)?
Do you know how long that ride lasts (without cheating--which you can do by clicking on the Data 数据 tab for the answer)?  Take a guess!
And did you know that it's ranked 4th in the world records for speed (another phobia of mine)?

这样的小知识实在没用（我想说 trivia。 比‘小知识’更好的中文词源有没有？），不过有时候举出这些也挺好玩儿的啊。

谢谢你给我们分享那个很有意思的广告！不用怕堵车，不用怕挤公共汽车（碰上色情狂！），是很不错的上班方法。可是，下班时怎么办呢？

Changye, Cassie 给我们介绍的新闻是个噩梦。还是坐过山车有危险性。实在很严重。不久前在韩国首尔的一家游乐园发生了致命事故，在日本大阪的一家主题公园又人丧了命。那么，

Why did i choose to take the rollercoaster and why did myself pay money for such terrible experience?

Cassie 是人们的生性吧。好多人会寻求‘非日常’（恐怕这个词不是中文而是日文）的体验，是因为他们每天过太平日子。我个人呢，没有这样的感觉。我有的是恐高症。
总之，在很多方面我们的行为不合逻辑。也许大都没有道理。　（＾ｖ＾）

Thanks actually, for so neatly summarizing in English exactly what I tried to describe in my butchered-version Chinese!  (folks this is as perfect as translation-summaries get.)
I haven't been either but Changye has. And according to him the experience lives up to its reputation.

agentchuck,  I think John was "disgruntled" about the lack of "ride" the noun that you have in English, not the verb "to ride", for which you can say 坐 in Chinese.
It's the same in Japanese, we don't have that noun (but some time not too long ago we started calling them "attractions" ato-raku-shon--our marketing and theme-park-planning terminology obviously is borrowed right from Anglo-American 先辈s) either.  This is one of those times I feel like saying hey, you guys need to appreciate that English has these extremely convenient words that many other languages just don't (didn't need, obviously)!
