Hmn. If this is the first time you've listened to her, I'd hold judgement. It's worth remembering the site isn't just used by Americans (I'm kind of assuming you are American!) and different people find different accents easier to relate to. Listen to a few more, and you might change your mind.

I've never noticed Liliana's translation to be anything other than 100% perfect, and to boot, I really like her presenting style. It's been commented before, her language skills really are prodigious.

I think making the learning enjoyable and engaging is far more important for recall and comprehension than hearing an accent you're 100% familiar with.

Thanks Jason, that does make it much clearer (and thanks Barbs too!) Useful phrase to know. I suppose Ken would have said "memoroise this as a laaairxical chunk" :-)

Does it also come under the "two third tones" rule, so the 苦 becomes a second tone?
