November 18, 2017 at 2:55 AMI found this by typing "gun" in the search box: https://chinesepod.com/lessons/%E7%BE%8E%E5%9B%BD%E6%A0%A1%E5%9B%AD%E6%9E%AA%E5%87%BB%E6%A1%88
美国校园枪击案
Also, if you scroll down past all the trolling lesson comments for that lesson, there is actually a lot of useful supplementary material to the lesson in the comments section.

October 12, 2017 at 11:56 AMMermaid lines is not a phrase that exists in English as best I can tell. Probably the translator is a native Chinese speaker, who was directly translating 美人鱼线. Google that and you will find images of "firm abs", which is the definition CPod has for 马甲。 马甲 also seems to be a neologism, from the original meaning of corset or vest, to meaning a slender waist and a muscular abdomen. Based on the Google images for 马甲 (don't try this at work) this can refer to either men or women.

October 12, 2017 at 11:47 AMIn the phrase "...有躺在人行道上的 ..." (some (bikes) are lying on the sidewalk) I was surprised at the use of the word 躺, which I had only ever seen referring to something done by living things, or a state of a living thing. (The boy lies on the grass. The dog is lying in its bed). Maybe this was a typo and should have been “有摊在人行道上的". Can somebody at CPod confirm or clarify this?

August 26, 2017 at 11:04 AMHave you tried adjusting your settings? (My Settings / Lesson Settings)
You can choose defaults for whether or not to show Pinyin and whether or not to show English.
You can also use the "Leave a Suggestion" link for comments that are not specific to the lesson.

December 5, 2017 at 3:47 AMSo you teach English to native Chinese speakers? I don't know too much about Quizlet, but from what I recall they only recently added spaced repetition system ("SRS") functionality. Are you happy with it?
As for sample sentences, my main resource used to be jukuu.com, but it seems to be experiencing some problems. (Maybe some of those sample sentences were non-PC and got blocked?) More recently I am experimenting with http://dj.iciba.com/
Of course one can never be fully confident in the sample sentences and translation involving the language in which one is a learner oneself.
I have a bit more experience working with Memrise, which seems to be quite often updated. I would recommend checking out their app in addition to their website. My main criticism is that its virtually impossible to sift the really good courses from the trash, but if you are just interested in creating something for your own students you should probably see how this compares to Quizlet.
