February 26, 2013 at 6:44 AMSo in the lesson 睡在<place word> is allowed, and John said it was one of those exceptional words. So can you guys list some other verbs that people often put 在什么地方 after?
走在路上(在路上走路)
跑在外面 (在外面跑步)
坐在这里 (在这里坐)
...
now your turn. :) Good to put the other way of 在<place><verb/verb-noun> as well, for sometimes the other way needs a noun after the verb like 走路 or 跑步, but would not be in the <verb>在<place> structure.

February 26, 2013 at 6:32 AMMy first job interview as a programmer trying to get a job in California in 1998 I wore a tie...I was told later I shouldn't have dressed up like that and was probably why I didn't get the job.

February 6, 2013 at 6:39 AMThe first time I came to China in 2002 was with a trade mission team from Idaho, along with the governor. Was a privilege to get to see China through this event. The funniest moment was when the governor was in Shanghai and in a trade meeting at a boardroom table and said "We're going to knock their socks off" and the interpreter, who is now my friend here as I kept in touch, has really good English but just stopped and stared...."knock their socks off"?? We still joke about that to today.

February 6, 2013 at 6:39 AMUm, that looks like it is in order. What are we suppose to do? Love the ending...
How do you say "Put a sock in it!" in Chinese? I only see these expressions when I use 有道词典:
别讲了 bié jiǎng le
最好静一点儿 zuì hǎo jìng yìdiǎnr
别说了 bié shuō le
闭嘴 bì zuǐ
