Let's see...

  • Advanced: you'd need a shower after being pregnant?
  • Intermediate: Sneezing tends to shower others (eww)
  • Upper-Intermediate - Guess you need a shower after the test
  • Media..... okay, they got me on the relationship between plastic and showers...

Interesing Ken how you called it "Scissors, Paper, Rock" yet I have always heard it as "Rock, Paper, Scissors"... is that how they say it in Ireland?

Reminds me of something that happened ...uh... just right around now.  This I may have mentioned this in another lesson, but is funny how my good Chinese friends, a husband and wife, planned to have their baby right around the time I got back to China a month ago... and I was so worried I wouldn't be there when the baby was born... but my "luck" would have it, it was born days after I arrived.  I say "luck" because I STILL haven't seen the baby!!  I knew about the one-month-do-nothing-but-lay-in-bed custom, but I never thought it also meant husband-does-not-allow-a-single-person-except-only-their-mothers-to-see-the-baby-and-gets-mad-if-you-ask.  Her husband, when I called him to ask when I could come see his wife and the baby flat out said "不行,不能"...I thought he was joking.  Nope.  So maybe I will get to see them tomorrow, but seeing a baby a month old is not the same as a day old... blah.

So, like, if memory serves me right, wasn't Bazza the one (maybe of many) who was asking for a 高尔夫球 lesson?  Now he got it.  Haven't listened to it yet... is he in the dialog?  哈哈

If any of you get on my bad side... oh yes, I will go as far as give you a cold drink!!! (and if you are a huge threat to my life, I might just put in one little sliver of an ice... bwahahaha)

Any reason 伏特加 (fútèjiā) isn't 伏特酒?  Funny 加(jiā) isn't 酒(jiǔ) for meaning and phonetic.

And is 伏特加 very easy/common to buy in China?  Haven't seen much on the liquor shelves other than 白酒 and 红葡萄酒... not that I really want to buy any as drinking isn't my cup of tea...err....酒, but I was wondering how to identify/find it other than asking by name.

shaxan,

huh, it is an elementary lesson, doubt they wanted to get into too much detail, and outside of Russia, 伏特加(Vodka) is a very common way to start up a conversation about 俄国.  You try summing up all of 莫斯科 in just a 5-6 line elementary dialog and maybe I can learn something more too ;)

Funny, JUST yesterday I asked my teacher specifically how to say 莫斯科 in Chinese, just because a few of my classmates happened to travel through 俄国 to get to 天津 in 中国.  You guys are amazing...help me to get this memorized like not even my teacher could.

Is there a lot of science in 莫斯科 for it to have 科 in the name?  heh.
