Posted on: Interviews: Obama or Romney?
November 7, 2012 at 5:09 AMTrue that in the 1800s those in States farther from the federal office and capital were at a disadvantage of having influence due to population, so electoral votes was a good thing, and while I'm not even being scientific about this, it is probably still kept today so election campaigns don't have to spend so much time visiting all the general public, but only those "swing states" where they pour more of their money into for the election. But then of course that means those states get the money that was spent to caterers, etc. for these events. It almost seems now that the big, populated States actually are getting more weight in this, as, for example, while almost half of Cali voted for Romney, all 55 electoral votes go to Obama....I guess that's the way it happens though.
Posted on: So Many Airport Fees
November 2, 2012 at 8:25 AMA trip from Shanghai to Beijing, where the train is 5 hours now, and a plane trip 2 hours, it is still almost worth the extra 3 hours, as you have to get through check-in, security and then reclaim bags, not to mention time to the airport and from the airport. With a train, if ticket is already in hand, you just have to get to the train station, have your ticket checked, and board with your luggage.

November 2, 2012 at 8:19 AMDo you mean "Some people say this as3rd tone instead of 1st tone"?
I would say: 有的人读第三声“几”,而是读第一声“几”。

December 12, 2012 at 1:28 AMWith smart phones typing in Chinese, I think I have even typed this one wrong, not paying attention to the characters the input program picked...it confused the receiver, of course.
