October 18, 2012 at 7:43 AMIt is always funny what we don't think about in our own language as strange, but if we learn another language, even 热锅règǒu makes us go "they really say that?" I can't remember when I first learned hotdog, but just very recently I told a friend who is a beginner at Chinese who wanted a hotdog to go up and say "yì ge règǒu" and he said "really, it is a dog that is hot?" and I simply said with a smile, "Isn't that what you say in English as well?"

July 13, 2012 at 5:52 AMYouDao dictionary, 有道, is one of the best mouse-over EnglishChinese popup dictionaries I've found where it gives even sentences found on the web with your word. You can download it at:
http://cidian.youdao.com/?keyfrom=dict.entry
Click the big blue button at the bottom that says 立即下载 (Immediate download) and then just install that program. When you open it, you can enter words. The second tab is where you can see sentences for your search query.

So it is flexible, but more in the sense of having really great abilities.
