I think Chinesepod has more American users than any other nationality, and I'm  not saying that should affect it's decision to chose topics.  As an expat from New Orleans living here, working, trying to find time to learn the characters and the pinyin fast enough to function in this strange but wonderful land,I think it would be nice if Pete and the other teachers here would stop assuming that we, the users of the site, have to be at a certain level of character reading in order to appreciate and benefit from an intermediate lesson.   We're not all gonna be freaking Ezra Pound.  Some of us just wanna get chuan and hotpots without looking like a retard.

I'm just "churping" in because I am VERY unhappy that the staff here has no respect for people who are ahead on their pinyin and a little behind on their characters.  The smallest amount of help from the staff here in the discussion section would be appreciated.

You can say Mao was the sweetest, old grandpa in the world and I don't care as long as I feel the staff has me in mind in these lessons.

Tai,

Very nice points.  Also, the lesson is vehement on pointing out anti-Chinese sentiment in the US while it cowardly stays away from any harsh words against other countries.  Maybe because it's a Shanghai-based company.   Maybe China Daily editors had a hand in this lesson?

Most Americans are calm about the domestic results of globalization.  The country with the cheapest labor and least regard for copyrights wins!  Simple. Nothing hysterical about that.

Either way, you submit a politcal topic, you're going to get fireworks.

Dear Pete,

Try to use more pinyin in this section.  Some of us need it.

Churp churp,

Dear Chinesepod Staff and Chinese afficionados who chime in here after the lesson:

Please use pinyin too!

Thanks,

QF

Maybe a little editing is needed in the expansion section.

During the dialog, my favorite part of this dark, rainy, back-alley scene, along with the mistrusting voice of the gate-keeper and the hasty compliance of those who seek entrance, has to be the ironical click clacking of the computer keys while the gate-keeper does a 21st century search for name results. We simply cannot have a Podcast without a computer!  That would be unsacred!

Jenny is one little Chinese girl with one massive brain.

Congrats on the 1000th!!!!!

Request!!!!!!!!!!!

In the expansion section, can you please please please make the Chinese characters in the sentences bigger and bolder?  I struggle to see and effectively learn them.

Thanks.
