August 22, 2012 at 2:38 AMMark,
Blast from the past, your use of the word "exploitative" brought back wonderful memories of the "blacksploitation" films. I was trying to think of any relevance of this to Chinese Pod --- does anyone remember Charlie Chan? Fu Manchu?

August 22, 2012 at 2:12 AMI know there is an advanced lesson about people in Wenzhou. How about a lower level lesson on private lending?

August 21, 2012 at 2:58 AMI thought the same. I'm thinking "Out of Africa". Anyway, I heard that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which at first blush would seem to be not a chick flick, (action / kung fu genre pigeonhole) was very cleverly marketed to be a "crossover" film. I haven't listened to the lesson yet. Nice picture though. How about a lesson on the "Call Me Maybe" music video?

August 19, 2012 at 5:24 PMtype "religion" in the search box above. Chinese Pod has been there, done that. Thanks for the opportunity to remind everyone that the lesson archive is searchable. (Now if only the iPhone app could do that . . .)

August 19, 2012 at 5:20 PMA quick search of "religion" turns up 18 lessons tagged with that topic, some of them higher level. Just type "religion" in the search box in the upper right hand corner of this web page. You can search by lessons, glossary, or community. You might find the following especially helpful:
Elementary - Going to Church
Upper Intermediate - Attitudes toward Religion
Advanced - 宗教知识竞赛
The last one is a very creative lesson format, well produced by CPod.
