toianw,

Thanks, that worked. I think I was looking for "save target as", not realizing that "save link as" does the same thing. Maybe my brain has a holdover from Internet Explorer. (I used Firefox exclusively for ChinesePod now.)

I have a similar question. It seems that I used to be able to download lessons as mp3 files by just right clicking on the player, but it looks like that function is not available any more. I usually use iTunes or the Chinese Pod mobile app, so it hasn't been an issue, but I wanted to put a file on another mp3 player and I don't know how to do it any more. Can anyone on CPod staff help? Other users?

Sounds about right. Your reply made me smile and remember the CPod lesson on national stereotypes; "法国人都爱喝葡萄酒" etc.

Try typing "Taiwan lingo" in the CPod search box above; you will find a few lessons.

I think I have come across a lot of things through Chinese Pod that foreigners seem to learn from textbooks as being "common Chinese phrases" from when, in fact, they are quite uncommon.

Off the top of my head:

你好吗?

哪里,哪里

马马虎虎

Thanks, actually now that I think about it it was probably John Cale, not Lou Reed, and the song was Faces and Names. But it is an authentic Warhol quote (or at least his ghost writer really wrote it) because I saw it in one of his books. Something to the effect that if someone in their thirties made their hair white people would say "wow, that old guy has a lot of energy." Maybe that's why Chinese people sometimes misstate their age by ADDING years. Or is that another cultural relic of a bygone era by which I am perhaps revealing my own advanced years and decrepit state?

Andy Warhol suggested dying your hair white while still young. As Lou Reed quoted him in one tribute song to Warhol "if you look older when you are not, as you really age you look the same." Some advice for you young poddies to consider. 有的女人说我的胡子让我像老头,也有的女人喜欢。 我喜欢会欣赏成熟男人的女人,嘿嘿。

Vera,
