November 22, 2009 at 3:56 AMActually, Catherine aluded to the fact that Canada may have a different Thanksgiving date from the U.S.A.
Canada celebrated this on October 12th.
I'm not sure why there is a different date...probably because we already have a November holiday...

November 12, 2009 at 5:15 AM@ Changye, in English you could also say "Treat others as you wish to be treated"...

October 24, 2009 at 2:30 PMDoes the 虽然。。。但是 pattern also convey the same meaning ? For example:
即使有女朋友,你还是可以看看别的
versus
虽然有女朋友,你还是可以看看别的 (Is this correct ?)

Looks like a great translation to me. I don't believe my effort accurately reflects the subtleties and nuances of language. I have new respect for professional translators !

September 30, 2009 at 4:27 AMI'm going to miss Pete's quirky voice renditions on the Audio files. I did find it amusing and believe the humor actually helped my learning. There was one file where he did an amazing imitation of Jimmy Stewart. (However, I can see how it might be an issue for some poddies whose native language is not English).
Baba...I have the original file and others (memorabilia)...maybe I can email it to you.

December 6, 2009 at 8:06 PMI'm not concerned about the so-called adult content. The banter in this lesson seemed quite tame to me. But Connie's response was neutral:
我只做了一次
wǒ zhǐ zuò le yī cì (I only did it once)
If you wanted to say, for example, "I only made love once to an alien"....
我只作爱了一次跟外星人了
Is this correct ?
