January 1, 2010 at 5:10 PMI wonder what makes john's voice sound different after 8:45 (more muffled). It sounds like he stepped back from the microphone after speaking about "pretty girls". ;o)
Also, I don't really hear "你疯了吧?你!" but more "你疯了 闻你啊" or something like that with wen2 or wen3. Am I the only one ?

December 23, 2009 at 9:15 AM说到"拆开", 吃螃蟹的时候我在一小饭店听说"拆吃螃蟹"。"拆吃"是不是标准的话? In this circumstance, would it mean "messy eating" (breaking the shell in the mouth) ?

Recently in London, I heard the word "MacDo" which is the french nickname for MacDonalds (but the french pronunciation of "Mac" is slightly different from the english).
... 对不起,跑题了!

November 17, 2009 at 6:11 PMWhen I look for 语气词 on Cpod Search Engine, I only see this lesson (and the SBTG about Confucius).
But I'm pretty sure I listened to another one with John few months before this one. Is it still in the archives ?

November 5, 2009 at 10:14 AMThank you for your help. Some concepts of urban development and city planning seem to be quite vague in chinese.
I'll try to use 卧城 for Commuter/Dormitory town.
As 住宅区 is a residential area in a city then 住宅城 could be a "Residential town". It's not the same concept as "Dormitory town" but it's close.

January 5, 2010 at 7:46 AMIt's interesting to notice that the chinese for Ultraman (奥特曼) sounds like the english pronunciation of the word Ottoman (奥斯曼 or 奥托曼).
Btw, I didn't know that "ottoman" could also describ a type of furniture :
