I know I'm getting to this a bit late, but does anyone know the significance of 西湖藕粉 (West Lake lotus powder)?

I don't think the question has been answered yet, so I'll try one more time! :)

In the first sentence of the dialog, we hear 这件衣服 (zhe4 jian4 yi1fu, this piece of clothing) but in the second line, we hear 这个不好看 (zhe4 ge bu4 hao3kan4, this doesn't look good). I think the question boils down to two parts: (1) Could you also say 这件不好看 (zhe4 jian4 bu4 hao3kan4) when you don't repeat the noun again?  (2) Which would be more usual?

Thanks!
