Until our company establishes a foothold in the market, it's still too early to talk about going public.
Our company only now has just established a foothold; it's still too early to talk about going public.

--------------
Starting January 1st, we are introducing a new feedback feature on our website, and would love to have all of our poddies come test this out! For the month of January, all newly published academic lessons will have a new tab on the lesson page, labeled “task”.
What is the “Task” feature?
-The task tab allows Premium users to upload a Word, MP3, or MP4 assignment based on the instructions given.
- Once uploaded, this assignment will be reviewed by our ChinesePod teachers, who will then give corrections and feedback to the user.
- Users also have the ability to “share” their work with other users for peer review.
During the testing phase of this feature, free feedback will be given to Premium users during the month of January. We are eager for you to try out this new exciting learning tool and we hope that the new "Task" tab can improve your poddie experience!

January 10, 2013 at 12:06 PMfloalvarez, this is something I want to get into as well. But I've actually never tried to transcribe an advanced/media lesson, so I think I should do a trial run on my own before taking the plunge. To be honest, I've relied on your transcription on one or two occasions myself. :)

January 9, 2013 at 5:17 PMWell, I certainly don't appeal to old documents as the source of rights. You're correct in surmising that I think of "rights" as an expansive concept independent of what governments have to say about it. Other than that, I'm happy to let you have the last word on the matter. :)

January 9, 2013 at 4:15 PMI think you're probably right about the Chinese grammar points, but maybe an expert will chime in!
It seems like the focus has shifted between guns in the hands of citizens and guns in the hands of the government. You know my thoughts on the latter; as to the former, I'm a libertarian (to put it mildly), so it won't surprise you to learn that I don't support any laws against guns short of using them to harm innocent people or steal their property. People who manufacture, sell, and possess guns are not harming you or me, and so it is not our right to use government force to harm them. I do not regard as valid arguments to the effect that the behavior of the very worst people should be used as a basis for curtailing the rights of other people.

January 9, 2013 at 3:40 PMThanks for setting the English precedent - it's a lot quicker for me too!
I'll try not to belabor anything, but here are 3 quick responses:
(1) Of course I wouldn't go out shooting prostitutes, and for exactly the reason you give: I don't want to cause harm for others. I agree that, for the vast majority of people, the threat of government force is not needed to keep us from killing and stealing.
(2) That leaves my data point about paying taxes to fund the murder of children with assassination drones (and other atrocities). I wouldn't pay those taxes unless I knew someone would eventually point a gun at me if I refused. Adding (1) and (2) together, we can conclude that, while government guns are not so crucial in preventing crime, they are absolutely crucial in enabling the State to commit its own crimes.
(3) I think 折射 is basically a physics term meaning "to refract," but can (perversely!) also mean "to reflect" in the figurative sense ("to reflect one's views").

January 9, 2013 at 2:19 PMGrambers,

January 25, 2013 at 1:29 PMfloalvarez: "Why so much fuss about being called a marriage like the heterosexual?"
I would turn that question back to you. What does it matter to you or anyone else? Why bother creating a new legal framework to accommodate same-sex couples when one already exists?
