May 15, 2010 at 7:23 AMI like the Shanghainese lessons! It's interesting to learn some Chinese dialects. I look forward especially the Cantonese.
However, as a native Chinese speaker, I find these lessons fun to listen but difficult to learn. I am sure for Chinese learners, it could be pretty daunting!

May 15, 2010 at 7:12 AMThe meaning of “体会到” is a little close to "emphasize." “体会” means to be able to feel something personally/emotionally. The action is usually slow and long-term. For example, 有了孩子以后，我才体会到当妈妈的辛苦。(Only after having children myself could I feel how hard it is being a mom.)
“意识到” is to realize something from subconsciously to consciously (after having been hinted for a while.) 例如：在接二连三的地震天灾之后，人们意识到地球真的在生气了。(After several earthquakes and natural disasters, people begin to realize that the Earth is really in anger.)

May 12, 2010 at 4:36 AMIn Taiwan, we have a kind of cold noodles called 凉面. One CPod user alwingate translated it as Sesame Sauce noodles. Unlike the Korean or Thai cold noodles, it's not very spicy, unless you think the flavor of sesame is spicy.

婴儿 is seldom used orally, because it sounds very impersonal. In the hosptial, the doctors may talk about a baby with their colleagues by saying "那个婴儿真健康...". But when they talk about a baby with its family, they would use "你的宝宝很健康..."

I can't explain why the past tense of the proposition can go without 了. Probably it's because it's a statement that stays still true when you clarify it. Hope CPod teachers can find an explanation for it.
