November 15, 2010 at 5:40 AMGong Fu 功夫 is the universal name in Chinese of all martial arts. Where as wushu is one style of chinese martial arts or Chinese Gong Fu 中国功夫
During Bruce Lee's initial popularity to the west was via his Martial Art movies "Big Boss" "Enter the Dragon" then during Brue Lee's association with Hollywood he really pushed his own style, (Jeet Kune Do)the joining of his studies which including WuShu. So Bruce Lee referring to himself talked about his skill coming from Chinese Kung Fu.
Following Bruce Lee's unfortunate death, the west became more and more interested in martial arts including Gong Fu (Kung Fu) and then various forms of Kung Fu came closer to be revealed to the West, Including Wushu, Tiaqiquan, XingYi, Bagau, Fujian White Crane and many many more.
叶问 yèwèn Ipman, Bruce Lee's teacher helped make Wushu famous.
"Ipman One" and "Ipman Two" movies are great!
